Lake Malawi, also known as Lake Nyasa, is one of Africa's Great Lakes and the third largest in Africa. It is home to more species of fish than any other lake, including over 1000 species of cichlids. The clear, calm waters of Lake Malawi make it an excellent spot for freshwater scuba diving and snorkeling, offering unique opportunities to observe vibrant cichlid fish in their natural habitat. The lake spans the eastern border of Malawi, touching Tanzania and Mozambique, and is characterized by its sandy beaches and rocky shores. Dive sites vary from shallow sandy areas, perfect for beginners, to deeper rocky sites for more experienced divers. The lake's vast expanse and diverse ecosystems make it a must-visit dive zone for enthusiasts of freshwater diving.
