Sertulariid hydroids [Sertulariidae]
Description
Sertulariidae, or sertulariid hydroids, comprise a family of hydrozoans that build intricate, branching colonies resembling miniature trees. Each colony is composed of a network of tubes housing individual polyps. These hydroids are mostly found in colder seas, where they attach to rocks, algae, or other hard substrates.
