Burmeister's Porpoise [Phocoenoides]

Description

Phocoenoides is a genus that contains the Burmeister's porpoise, a species distinguished by its unique body shape and fin size compared to other members of the Phocoenidae family. They have a robust body, a small head with a blunt snout, and are found in the cold to temperate waters of the South Pacific and South Atlantic Oceans. These porpoises are often solitary or found in small groups and are less frequently observed than other porpoises, partly due to their preference for deeper waters.
