Humpback Whale [Megaptera]

Description

Megaptera is a genus of large baleen whale with a single species, the humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae). Humpback whales are known for their remarkable behaviors, such as breaching (jumping out of the water) and slapping the surface with their pectoral fins and tails. They are also famous for their complex and beautiful songs, sung by males. Humpback whales have long pectoral fins, which can be up to one-third of their body length, and a knobby head with tubercles on the front and jaws.
