Star Sun Coral [Stelligera]

Description
Stelligera is a genus of marine organisms within the family Stelligeridae, known for their distinctive star-shaped colonies. These corals are distinguished by their small, sun-like polyps which extend outward from a central core, creating a radiating pattern reminiscent of a star or sun. They are predominantly found in shallow, tropical, and subtropical waters, where they contribute to reef-building processes and provide habitat for a variety of marine life. The structure of Stelligera colonies is supported by a hard, calcium carbonate skeleton, which also offers protection to the delicate polyps.
