Flower Hat Jellyfish [Olindias formosa]

Description
The Flower Hat Jellyfish, or Olindias formosa, is a striking, colorful species of jellyfish native to the Western Pacific Ocean off southern Japan. This jellyfish has a translucent, pinstriped, bell-shaped body that is adorned with a vibrant array of tentacle-like structures that resemble the petals of a flower. These 'petals' are actually tentacles lined with nematocysts, which the jellyfish uses to sting and immobilize its prey. The Flower Hat Jellyfish typically resides in coastal waters and is most commonly found near the ocean's surface. Its diet consists mainly of small fish and plankton.
