Description

The Giant Devilray, scientifically known as Heterocotyle bonellii, is a species of monogenean, parasitic on the gills of a marine fish. It belongs to the family Monocotylidae. It is found in the Mediterranean Sea, specifically on the mobula ray known as Mobula mobular. It is distinguished by its haptor, which is the organ used for attachment to the host, that has 10 peripheral loculi and one median loculus. This species also has two different types of hooks.
