Description
The Spinetail Devilray, scientifically known as Heterocotyle lata, is a species of monogenean, parasitic on the gills of a marine fish. It belongs to the family Monocotylidae. It is found in the Atlantic Ocean, specifically on the mobula ray known as Mobula japanica. This species is characterized by its haptor that has 14 peripheral loculi and one median loculus. It also has two different types of hooks, with the most distinguishing feature being the long, straight shank of the hook.
