Description
Neoheterocotyle australis is a species of monogenean, parasitic on the gills of a marine fish. It belongs to the family Monocotylidae. The species is distinguished by its haptor, which does not carry any clamps and has two separate parts, one anterior part with two squamodiscs and one posterior part with a single squamodisc. The species has a very long male copulatory organ, which includes a long and convoluted tube and a terminal anchor.
