Description

The Campeche Box Turtle, or Campechea flavomarginata, is a terrestrial turtle species found in the Campeche region of Mexico. It lives in tropical dry forests, often near water sources. It has a distinctive shell that is brown to dark brown with a yellow rim, hence the name 'flavomarginata'. This turtle species is known for its ability to completely close its shell, thanks to a hinged plastron. It feeds on a variety of plants and animals, including insects, fruits, and fungi.
