Panda goby [Glyptauchen panduratus]

Panda goby
Description

The Panda Goby, also known as the Glyptauchen panduratus, is a small, uniquely shaped fish that inhabits the tropical waters of the Western Pacific Ocean. They are typically found in shallow areas with rich coral growth. These gobies are characterized by their distinctively flattened bodies and large, rounded pectoral fins that resemble the shape of a panda's face when viewed from the front. They are primarily solitary creatures, often seen hiding in crevices or among coral branches. A distinguishing feature of this species is the dark, pandalike mask that covers its eyes and gill covers, contrasting with its otherwise pale body.
