Spotted Mud Turtle [Campechea stejnegeri]

Description
The Spotted Mud Turtle, or Campechea stejnegeri, is a small aquatic turtle species that inhabits marshes, swamps, ponds, and lagoons in parts of Central America and Mexico. It is named for its distinctive spotted shell, which is typically dark brown with yellow spots. The plastron is yellowish with dark blotches. This species is generally shy and spends much of its time buried in mud or vegetation. It feeds on a diet of small aquatic invertebrates, amphibians, and plant matter.
