Cryptoplax [Cryptoplax]

Description
Representatives of the genus Cryptoplax are recognized by their unique armor plating combined with a leathery girdle, which can be partially covered in small scales. These chitons are adapted to a variety of marine habitats, often found in deeper waters compared to other chiton genera. Their body structure allows them to blend seamlessly into the rocky seafloor, making them difficult for predators to spot.
