Doto [Doto]

Description
Doto is a genus within the family Dotidae, known for its members' unique appearance and behavior. These nudibranchs, often referred to as sea slugs, exhibit a wide range of colors and patterns, making them a subject of interest among marine biologists and underwater photographers. Characterized by their elongated bodies and numerous cerata (finger-like protrusions) that cover their backs, species in this genus are adapted to a life spent mostly on hydroids, from which they feed. The cerata not only serve as a site for respiration but also contain extensions of the digestive system that help in the digestion of their cnidarian prey. Doto species are found in various marine environments around the world, from shallow waters to deeper zones, showcasing a significant diversity in form and habitat preference.
