Melarhaphe neritoides [Littorina neritoides]

Description
The Melarhaphe neritoides, or the 'sea snail,' is a tiny periwinkle that lives in the high intertidal zone on rocky shores. It has a smooth shell that is typically dark brown to black. It is very similar in appearance to the freshwater snail, Theodoxus fluviatilis, but can be distinguished by its smaller size and habitat.
