Small Intestine Fluke [Heterophyes heterophyes]

Description
Heterophyes heterophyes is a species of trematodes, commonly known as flukes. This parasitic flatworm is widespread in Asia and the Middle East, where it infects the small intestine of humans and other fish-eating mammals. The adult flukes are small, typically measuring 1.0 to 1.7 mm by 0.3 to 0.4 mm. They are characterized by a ventral sucker that is smaller than the oral sucker, two testes, and a compact ovary located near the right margin of the body.
