Description
Nierstraszella laevis, or Smooth Nierstrasz's sea sponge, is another species found in the Western Central Pacific. Unlike N. lineata, this species is characterized by its smooth, ungrooved surface. It is also generally smaller and less rigid, with a softer, more flexible texture. This sponge is usually found in deeper waters, often attached to rocks or other hard substrates.
