Spongioradsia unguiculata
Description

Spongioradsia unguiculata is a species of deep-sea sponge that belongs to the Spongioradsia genus. Though much of its behavior remains unknown, it is distinguished by its unique spicule structure. These spicules are often hook-shaped or bear a resemblance to claws, hence the species' Latin name 'unguiculata', which translates to 'small claw'. Like other species in its genus, it is composed of a network of siliceous spicules.
