Description
White Abalone is a marine gastropod mollusk found off the coast of California and Baja California. It is characterized by a rounded-oval shell, with a row of respiratory pores. Its shell color ranges from a pale yellow to a pinkish tone. It is a deep water species preferring depths of 80 to 100 feet. It primarily feeds on kelp. The species is critically endangered due to over-harvesting.
