Gadilida [Gadilida]

Description

Gadilida is an order within the class Scaphopoda characterized by shorter and more bulbous shells compared to those of Dentaliida. Gadilids inhabit marine environments and are also known for burrowing into the seabed. Their diet mainly consists of foraminiferans, tiny single-celled protists. Gadilid shells are typically opaque and less elongated, with a more pronounced curvature. Members of this order are adapted to a wide range of depths, from shallow coastal waters to the deep sea.
