Astreopora [Astreopora]

Description
Astreopora is a genus of stony corals that features encrusting to massive colonies often with star-shaped corallites, giving it a distinctive appearance. These corals are found in a range of reef environments from shallow to deeper waters. Astreopora species are less known than Acropora but are important for the diversity they add to coral reef ecosystems. They exhibit a variety of growth forms and can be important reef builders in their habitats.
