Melon-headed Whale [Peponocephala]
Description
Peponocephala, represented by the Melon-headed Whale (Peponocephala electra), exhibits a torpedo-shaped body with a large, rounded forehead, or 'melon'. These dolphins have a dark back and a lighter belly, with a very slender beak. They are found in deep waters of the tropical and subtropical oceans and live in large, tightly-knit groups. Their diet primarily includes small fish and squid.
