Description

Notesthes are distinguished by their robust and stocky build, with a short, spiny dorsal fin and a large, protruding lower jaw. They inhabit sandy and muddy bottoms in coastal waters, using their camouflaged appearance to ambush prey. They mainly feed on small bottom-dwelling invertebrates.
