Description
Elodea is a genus of submerged aquatic plants used in aquariums and ponds. Known commonly as waterweed, these plants have slender stems and produce leaves in whorls of three to many along the stem. They are primarily found in freshwater environments and are important for oxygenating and purifying the water. They can grow rapidly under good conditions, sometimes becoming invasive outside their native ranges.
