Description
The Blind Electric Ray, also known as the New Zealand Torpedo, is a species of electric ray in the family Narcinidae. It is endemic to the waters off New Zealand, where it is found on the continental shelf at depths of 37 to 400 meters. It is a benthic species that prefers sandy or muddy bottoms. It is known for its almost completely blind eyes and uses its electric organs to navigate and detect prey.
