Electric ray [Electrolux addisoni]
Description
The Electric ray, or Electrolux addisoni, is a species of numbfish, discovered off the coast of South Africa. Known for its distinctive kidney-shaped electric organs, it can produce an electric discharge to stun prey and deter predators. It has a broad, flattened body and a short tail with a triangular caudal fin. The Electric ray typically inhabits sandy or muddy bottoms of the ocean. It has a highly specialized diet, primarily feasting on polychaete worms.
