Offshore Electric Ray [Typhlonarke tarakea]

Description
The Offshore Electric Ray is another species of electric ray in the family Narcinidae. It is also endemic to New Zealand, but prefers deeper offshore waters, ranging from 200 to 900 meters deep. Like its close relative, it is nearly blind and uses electric organs for navigation. It is a small ray, not exceeding 50 cm in length, and has a broad, rounded pectoral fin disc and a stout tail.
