Vaquita [Phocoena sinus]

Description
The Vaquita is a species of porpoise endemic to the northern part of the Gulf of California. The word 'vaquita' translates to 'little cow' in Spanish. With an estimated population of fewer than 20 individuals, the vaquita is the most endangered cetacean in the world. It is characterized by its small size, with adults rarely exceeding 1.5 meters in length, and its distinctive dark rings around the eyes and lips. Vaquitas are nocturnal, elusive, and prefer shallow waters.
