Alatinidae [Alatinidae]
Description
Alatinidae is a family within the order Carybdeida that includes several species of box jellyfish. These creatures are distinguished by their cube-shaped bell and the presence of four distinct tentacles, one at each corner of their bell. Alatinidae jellyfish are typically found in warm coastal waters around the world. They are known for their fascinating life cycle, which includes both a free-swimming medusa stage and a sessile polyp stage. While some species within this family possess venom capable of causing painful stings to humans, they are generally not considered as dangerous as some of their relatives in the family Chirodropidae.
