Bobtail Squids [Heteroteuthis]

Description
Heteroteuthis is a genus of small cephalopods known as bobtail squids, within the family Sepiolidae. These creatures are unique for their disproportionate, elongated fins that extend almost the entire length of their body, giving them a distinct appearance compared to other bobtail squids. Heteroteuthis species are pelagic, spending much of their time in open water, and are found in warm seas worldwide. They exhibit bioluminescence, which is thought to be used for attracting mates and deterring predators.
