Bobtail Squids [Abralia]

Description
Abralia is a genus within the family Sepiolidae but is often distinguished by its more elongated body and the presence of light organs on the underside, which are used for counterillumination to mask its silhouette from predators below. Though not typically referred to as bobtail squids, they share several family characteristics. Abralia species are found in open ocean environments around the world, inhabiting mid to deep water zones.
