Onithochiton [Onithochiton]

Description
Onithochiton belongs to the Chitonidae family and is known for species that possess a relatively smooth shell surface with distinctly marked and often colorful girdles. These chitons are typically found in intertidal to subtidal zones, where they adhere to rocks and feed on algal films. The vibrant girdles not only serve a protective function but also make Onithochiton species some of the more visually striking members of their family. Their distribution includes various oceanic regions from temperate to tropical waters.
