Warty Squid [Moroteuthis]

Description
Moroteuthis, commonly referred to as Warty Squids, are a genus of deep-sea squids known for their distinctive warty skin texture. These squids have moderately elongated bodies with large mantle fins. They possess a unique arrangement of muscular, warty protrusions covering their mantle, which may serve as camouflage or for disrupting predator targeting systems in the deep sea. Their diet primarily consists of small fish and other cephalopods. Moroteuthis species are adapted to life in the mesopelagic to bathypelagic zones of the ocean.
