Squids [Teuthida]
Description
Teuthida, commonly known as squids, comprises fast-moving, open-ocean cephalopods. Squids have a distinct head, bilateral symmetry, a mantle, and arms. They are known for their ability to jet-propel through water, exceptional camouflage capabilities, and the use of ink to deter predators. Squids range from the small pigmy squid, which can be as small as one centimeter, to the giant squid, which can reach lengths over 13 meters. They possess a sophisticated nervous system and are among the most neurologically advanced invertebrates.
