Description
Protochiton limacina, commonly known as the 'Yellow Chiton', is a small marine polyplacophoran mollusk that resides in the shallow waters of the Pacific Ocean. Known for its flattened, elongated body and shell composed of eight overlapping calcareous plates, this species primarily inhabits the intertidal zone of rocky shorelines. The yellow chiton is characterized by its vibrant yellow to orange color, which provides excellent camouflage against seaweed and other marine vegetation. This species feeds on algae through scraping the substrate with its radula.
