Description
Bathyscaphus stylifer, commonly known as the deep-sea prawn, is a species of prawn that dwells in the deep sea. This species is known for its distinct long, slender rostrum and large eyes. It is a benthic species, predominantly found in the abyssal zone, between 2000 and 6000 meters deep. They are scavengers by nature, feeding on the remains of other marine creatures that sink to the ocean floor. The species has a close association with cold seeps and hydrothermal vents.
