Furry Sea Cucumber [Gerongia rigida]

Description
Gerongia rigida, also known as the Furry Sea Cucumber, is found in the waters of the Northeast Pacific. This sea cucumber is most recognized by its elongated body covered in spiky projections that give it a 'furry' appearance. Its color ranges from light brown to dark purple. It is a benthic species, residing on the ocean floor, where it feeds primarily on detritus. This species is most active during the night.
