Description
The Grooved Moon Snail is a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Naticidae. It is found in the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the central Pacific. It lives in sandy substrates in both shallow and deep waters, commonly found at depths of 20 to 100 meters. It is a predatory species, primarily feeding on bivalves. Its shell is smooth, glossy, and spherical with a deep umbilicus and a low spire. The color of the shell varies from white to cream or pale yellow, often with brownish axial streaks.
