Description
The Blackspotted Electric Ray, or Torpedo fuscomaculata, is a species of electric ray in the family Torpedinidae. This bottom-dwelling species is found in the western Indian Ocean, specifically around the coasts of Somalia and South Africa. It is characterized by its nearly circular pectoral fin disc, its brown to black color with scattered small white spots, and its pair of kidney-shaped electric organs. It uses these organs to stun prey and for defense.
