This species is found in the tropical waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, particularly around northern Australia and Thailand. It is known for its potent venom, which can cause cardiac arrest and death in humans within minutes. It is also known for its rapid speed, being able to move up to 6 meters per minute. It has four eye clusters with 24 eyes that can detect light, color, and size of objects.
