Description
The Marbled Electric Ray is a species of electric ray in the family Torpedinidae, native to the coastal waters of the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. This benthic species is typically found over sandy or muddy substrates, from the shoreline to a depth of 100 m. It has a round pectoral fin disc and a pair of kidney-shaped electric organs that can generate an electric shock for defense and prey capture. Its coloration is a marbled pattern of dark blotches on a light background.
