Shortarm Squids [Euprymna]

Description
Euprymna is a genus within the family Sepiadariidae, commonly referred to as shortarm squids due to their comparatively shorter arms relative to their body size. These squids are notable for their symbiotic relationship with bioluminescent bacteria, which they house in a special light organ located in their mantle cavity. This symbiosis allows them to produce light, which is used for counter-illumination camouflage, attracting prey, and communication. Euprymna species are typically small, nocturnal, and are found in shallow coastal waters where they feed on small fish and crustaceans.
