Gonatus fabricii, often referred to as the boreoatlantic armhook squid, is a squid species native to the northern Atlantic Ocean. They are small to medium in size, measuring about 25 cm in mantle length. This species is characterized by its reddish-brown to purple color and the distinctive hooks on its tentacles. It is a deep-sea species found at depths of 300 to 1000 meters and is known for its extensive vertical migration, surfacing at night to feed.
