Carnivorans [Carnivora]

Description

While the Carnivora order primarily includes terrestrial animals, it also has significant marine representatives such as the pinnipeds, which encompass seals, sea lions, and the walrus. Pinnipeds are characterized by their fin-like limbs, thick blubber layer, and diverse feeding habits ranging from fish and squid to filter-feeding in the case of the crabeater seal. These marine carnivores are found in various marine environments from the polar ice caps to tropical shores. The polar bear, part of the bear family within Carnivora, is also considered a marine mammal due to its dependence on marine ecosystems for feeding, particularly on seals.
